Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam

Hi! My name is Pien and I'm 23 years old. Right now, I'm happily working as a Marketing Executive for Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam. In my free time, I enjoy discovering new places to eat and drink in the city. If a new coffee shop, restaurant, or terrace pops up on Instagram or TikTok, I add it to my list!

My journey with WestCord started 2.5 years ago as a marketing intern at Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam. I was studying Hospitality Management at NHL Stenden in Leeuwarden and I was looking for a challenging and creative internship in a cool hotel in Amsterdam. I applied to Hotel Jakarta and got the opportunity to intern here for 10 months. After my internship, there was a position available to work as a marketer, and here we are now! 

I start my day by getting a cup of coffee and having a meeting with our Sales & Marketing team. I work in the office, but there's always plenty happening here too! I handle marketing-related requests such as (social) media inquiries, PR, influencers, press, content creation, and photo/video shoots. Additionally, our team comes up with the coolest newsletters, emails, ads, packages, and events. We put them online, promote them as needed, and try to get as many guests excited about Hotel Jakarta as possible!

What I love most about my job is the variety and creative freedom! Every day is different, and I have a lot of freedom to develop ideas. Besides working at Hotel Jakarta, our commercial team also works in clusters, so I often get to work in one of the other WestCord Hotels. This way, I get to know a lot of colleagues and we can share knowledge and experiences.

The most important thing for me in a job is being able to enjoy biking to work, collaborating with the friendliest colleagues, and challenging myself by trying new things. In the near future, I want to learn more about online marketing. I'd also like to expand my skills as a mentor, as I've only just started working myself.

I've had many highlights at WestCord Hotels! I'm grateful for the network I've been able to build and all the amazing things I've been able to do within Hotel Jakarta and WestCord. But of course, working with the best colleagues, the staff parties, and the Friday afternoon drinks stand out the most!
