The Market Hotel Groningen

My name is Helen Immink, and I work as the Wellness Manager at The Market Hotel in Groningen. When I'm not at work, I love traveling in my camper with my partner, going for hikes, biking around cities, and reading books.

I've been somewhat involved with Westcord Hotels for a long time. Back in late 2019, they asked me to set up the Wellness center at The Market Hotel. But because the hotel's construction was delayed and then there were lockdowns due to COVID-19, I ended up working at the Wellness center of Hotel Jakarta for about nine months.

In early 2020, I spent two months learning about hotel operations by helping out at the Front Office. After that, I worked with my colleagues to get things ready for our Wellness center's opening. From June onwards, I was part of the Wellness team at Jakarta, starting as a regular staff member and later becoming the manager. Since March 2021, I've been the Wellness Manager at The Market Hotel in Groningen. Recently, I also became the Wellness Manager at Westcord, where I'm responsible for making sure all our wellness centers offer similar experiences for our guests.

My typical day starts around 9 a.m. at the hotel. We get the Wellness center ready and provide various treatments to guests. They come from the hotel and the city. When I'm not giving treatments, I handle tasks like making schedules, ordering supplies, and keeping in touch with people.

What I love most about working in Wellness is being able to help guests feel good both physically and mentally. It's great when guests leave feeling relaxed and happy, and I hope they come back to visit us again. I also enjoy passing on my caring attitude to my colleagues and building a strong team together. Right now, my goal is to make sure all our wellness centers work together well, so we can recommend guests to each other and learn from one another.

I've been working for a long time, and what matters most to me is enjoying what I do and feeling challenged. One of the best parts of my job at WestCord Hotels is knowing that our team at Wellcome Wellness Groningen is making a positive impact in the city. We're still growing, we have a great team, and our guests really appreciate the treatments we offer.
